Kuwait – Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive is currently providing a live demonstration of its innovative ConnectedDrive driver-assistance technologies through an especially designed FutureLab that explains BMW’s key innovations through the senses of sight, sound and touch.
BMW ConnectedDrive is BMW Group’s philosophy of exchanging information between the driver, the car and the outside world to give the driver and passengers' information and services to help make their driving experience safer and more comfortable.
The display, which will continue till the 8th of this month at Marina Crescent in Marina Mall in Kuwait, was flown in especially from Munich by Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive, the exclusive importer of the BMW Group in Kuwait. Through this display, visitors are able to go inside the FutureLab and take part in interactive demonstrations of BMW technology in two of the latest BMW models, the BMW X3 and BMW 6 Series Convertible.
Commenting on the initiative, Yousef Al Qatami, General Manager of Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive said, “As a high-traffic area that is always busy, Marina Crescent in Marina Mall is the perfect venue for us to display this FutureLab for people to see, understand and experience the latest technological advancements that have been incorporated over the last two years into the BMW's latest product range. These features have all been designed to benefit the driver and passenger from both a safety and comfort standpoint.”
The display also highlights the BMW ConnectedDrive function BMW Online, which enables customers, whose vehicles have the required function options, to access emails and their address book from the car, where messages are displayed on the vehicle’s monitor and accessed through the iDrive controller. Customers can also log onto their personal, password-protected BMW Online email account. In addition, passengers can also connect Wifi services to experience on-board internet access through their portable devices such as smartphone’s, laptops and iPads.
Available across the entire BMW range of new models as optional features, the BMW ConnectedDrive elements fall into three categories - Comfort, Safety and Infotainment – under which there is a growing range of innovative and inspiring technologies, including:
Surround View: With Surround View, the control display offers a 270 degree bird’s eye view of everything around the car providing support when manoeuvring and parking in tight spaces.
Internet Access: BMW is the first automobile manufacturer to offer unlimited on-board Internet access. Once the car has safely stopped, you can surf the Web on the control display and use the iDrive Controller as a computer mouse.
Bluetooth Office: The main smart-phone functions can now be transmitted to the car via Bluetooth Office, so the vehicle acts as a mobile workspace with the ability to call up everything from notes and contacts to emails.
BMW Head-Up Display: Derived from the information technology for fighter jet pilots, it helps make driving safer by projecting information about the current speed, route navigation on to the windscreen as a virtual image to ensure the driver’s attention stays on the road.
Advanced Emergency Call: In the event of an accident, crash sensors automatically activate the Advance Emergency Call and at the same time precise positioning data for your vehicle’s location is automatically transmitted through your BMW.
Park Assist: Allows the vehicle to parallel-park itself, where the driver only needs to operate the accelerator and brake. A sensor automatically scans parked cars for an available space. Once a suitable parking spot is found, the driver is prompted via the Control Display to stop the vehicle in order to start the parking manoeuvre.
Collision Warning with Brake Activation: This system uses radar technology to monitor distance to the car ahead and provide warnings wherever necessary. If the driver fails to respond, the system automatically brakes.
